In an increasingly competitive environment, the next generation of mobile devices will have multiple radios (e.g., cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, UWB, NFC) and multiple concurrent backend networks. Intelligently managing and traversing these connections, enabling customers to use their devices in richer ways than ever before requires new networking technologies that can be built or assembled readily, but in many cases are not deployed today. Imagine a world where the product you are working on is a next generation Windows Mobile device and you are leading your own team of PMs that are taking on a market with clear competitors. As the lead program manager for the Windows Mobile Networking team you will be responsible for driving your 5 person PM team to deliver the emerging technologies of today while anticipating the forthcoming technologies of tomorrow. In this role you will be: working with Product Planning to understand the business implications around "seamless connectivity" and emerging networking technologies working to deliver the right set of technologies into the current release and position the team to execute cleanly on its commitments working with your Networking Dev/Test counterparts to implement those solutions working with other groups within Windows Mobile and across MCB to ensure that dependencies across teams are clearly understood and accounted for working with Windows Networking to understand which of their investments can be leveraged and which of ours need to be shared working with the newly formed hardware team to ensure that we are aligning the right networking technologies with the right device capabilities working with your PMs to help them grow and deliver on their potential working with groups within and outside of Microsoft, (including industry partners and specifications bodies) to craft technical solutions to connection management and network traversal problems that provide value to customers that our products can deliver Ensuring Windows Mobile devices have an exceptional ability to communicate is critical to differentiating our product from an expensive fancy brick! Making This Dream Your Reality This is a key product and technology leadership position that involves end-to-end program delivery responsibility for Internet protocols, network security, and connectivity solutions in Windows Mobile. The role entails owning a multi-faceted set of customer scenarios, defining technology and product roadmaps and priorities, measuring progress, and coordinating across numerous organizations to ensure end-to-end delivery. The individual will work closely with internal and external customers, a broad industry ecosystem of Mobile Operators, OEMs and silicon vendors, understand customer requirements, collaborate with marketing to establish product positioning and business models, stay abreast of industry trends and technological innovation. Key skills include firm but diplomatic negotiation and coordination, solid understanding of goal setting, and the ability to handle many simultaneous projects. This position involves managing and growing a team of program managers, close coordination with development and test engineering teams, and partnership with other senior Principle Group Program Managers.
