John Deere Dubuque Works is seeking an Environmental Engineering Supervisor to be responsible for the environmental programs and compliance at both the Dubuque Works and Davenport Works. In this position, you will:

Plan, design, implement, and evaluate environmental management programs and processes to assure compliance with all appropriate laws and regulations and the John Deere Environmental Management System (EMS) Standard.
Prepare strategic and tactical plans as required to meet goals established by John Deere, the unit and/or division.
Serve as a resource and provides leadership to management and internal teams; acts as a liaison with external regulatory agencies, suppliers and other environmental organizations.
Prepare a program of and participate in conducting periodic inspections of company facilities, equipment and operations to monitor compliance with regulations and the John Deere Environmental Management System.
Utilize acquired knowledge to respond to questions or requests for information relevant to environmental issues from work groups inside and/or outside the company.
Analyze environmental reporting metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Supervise and manage salaried environmental staff personnel at both locations.

 
Operations with environmental requirements at these locations include weld, paint, assembly, machining, metal forming, equipment test, domestic and industrial waste water treatment, coal-fired powerhouse with intake channel leasing and dredging, process and domestic water wells and distribution, landfill, and Superfund remediation.
 
Education

Degree in an Engineering, Technology, or Science discipline or equivalent experience.

 
Required Skills and Experience

Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and standards including auditing.
Understanding of major governmental regulatory programs and environmental law.
Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office plus intranet and internet functions.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operation.
Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
3 plus years experience in an Environmental role within a manufacturing environment.  
Ability to manage employees at multiple locations.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (domestic).
Demonstrated project management skills.

 
Desired Skills and Experience

Knowledge about fire, security, life safety, and construction code information at the local, state, and national levels.
Supervisory experience.
