Job Summary
The Technical Training Specialist is directly responsible for:

* Design and/or develop training curriculum to include student training guides, review exercises, quick reference cards, training presentations and train-the-trainer guides primarily for computer applications.
* Work with clients to determine and implement best working practices, identify training requirements, develop training materials and then deliver training courses.
* Work with subject matter experts to design audience appropriate training documentation.
* Develop training outlines with appropriate version control and document management guidelines; develop training materials in a clear and concise format.
* Deliver training.
* Primarily liaisons to client middle management, decision-makers, project teams and end-users.

Problem Solving: Possesses in-depth understanding of client systems and helps others develop training solutions that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. The person must be very personable, well organized, and enjoy working with computer software. He/she should be able to evaluate computer software and also conduct general troubleshooting of computer applications.

Business Process and Software Expertise: Will have knowledge and understanding of the drug development process, particularly in clinical trials. Must be able to obtain a thorough knowledge of the client's Standard Operating Procedures and business processes pertaining to the customized application. Will design training curriculum for new releases associated with the clinical application. Develop new training materials to include student training guides, review exercises, quick reference cards, and training presentations. Provide detailed reports to the client's project manager that will help improve training courses and the training process.

Communication: Works with Project Managers on matters providing new ideas and direction as needed. Constructively handles conflict and encourage collaboration within working groups. Understands the training strategy and can apply it to day-to-day training activities.

Project Participation: Presents customized computer training for all levels at a pharmaceutical / biotech company, to include: Management, Clinical Planners, Study Managers, Study Administrators and Clinical Research Associates (CRA) at affiliate sites. Will work with pharmaceutical / biotech clients to determine and implement best working practices, identify training requirements and then deliver training courses in the use of the customized clinical application(s).

Travel: Approximately 10% travel to affiliate sites to conduct training on the customized application.

Qualifications

* BS/MS required. Degree in education a plus.
* [6 + years] in computer training, project management, consulting or a combination of other relevant work experience required.
* Pharmaceutical experience or solid knowledge of the drug development process is required.
* Previous experience as computer trainer to include: training on standard desktop applications, Oracle based applications (with GUI front-end), or training on any large-scale, legacy systems. (Examples of large-scale applications include: OracleClinical, ClinTrial, IMPACT, OPX2, RAVE, Documentum, SAP, etc.)
* Strong computing skills including MS Office Professional tools, MS Project or equivalent software. Visio experience a plus.
* Knowledge of adult behavior & learning objectives, as well as outstanding presentation skills are required.
* Track record of effective problem solving and decision-making.
* Superior written and verbal communications skills; proven history of effective communications and team building skills.
* Experience working in a matrixed environment with the ability to influence others without direct reporting responsibilities.
* Collaboration and relationship building skills are necessary, as well as the ability to work independently.
* Demonstrated leadership abilities with a strong commitment to quality, attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines.
