The Law Offices of Jeffery B. Rubin are located in downtown Boston and concentrate in immigration law. Primary Responsibilities * Drafts letters and memorandum to courts, lawyers, and clients. Prepares affidavits in support of asylum claims, battered spouse residency petitions, and motions for court proceedings. Gathers and analyzes research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents. Investigates facts and law of cases to determine causes of action and to prepare cases. Directs and coordinates law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas. Prepares witnesses, exhibits and trial books, and prepares charts and graphs for trial preparation. Provides support with deportation matters often involving prior criminal convictions. Oversees and assists with the creation and maintenance of case databases. Provides general administrative support and assists with answering phones as requested. Other duties as assigned. Required Experience * Applicant must have prior experience preparing family petitions and labor certifications. Excellent interpersonal skills needed for telephone and direct communication with large Spanish-speaking clientele. Prior immigration law experience is preferred. Attorneys with criminal defense experience may also apply. Have the ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment. Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong writing, research and critical thinking skills. Must be professional in appearance and attitude. Enthusiastic with a desire to work in a team environment. Ability to prioritize along with advanced organization skills a must * Excellent communication skills - must be fluent in written and verbal English and Spanish, including the ability to compose professional correspondence. Exhibit an eagerness to learn new skills and resourcefulness in solving problems.
