We have a very strong team starting a new project in a start-up like environment. This is a rare opportunity to work on a team of game industry experts tackling the challenges of creating innovative social games which use software and hardware technologies in new ways. SpawnPoint Studios, within MGS, is looking for a talented, motivated and experienced Art Director to create and manage art development. This is a rare opportunity to join a seasoned, creatively driven team on an exciting next-generation project. Qualified individuals are expected to be organized, with excellent communication skills, and have a proven track record in management. Candidates will have experience creating a broad range of styles in both 2D and 3D mediums, and be well versed in programs like Photoshop, Maya, etc. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Art Director is responsible to develop an art style to reflect and enhance the project design. The Art Director is responsible for all assets created by the art team to conform to the style and technical guidelines of the title. The Art Director is responsible to seek feedback from his peers and leads. Participate in meetings, reviews, and planning as part of effective communication with the team. Inspire, motivate, and mentor other artists in best practices, processes, and procedures pertaining to production. Contribute to build a collaborative environment with all disciplines, including design and engineering. The Art Director is responsible to drive visual innovation for the project QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required. AA/BFA preferred, or at least can demonstrate through portfolio an industry standard level of art. 10+ years as professional artist or equivalent experience. 3+ years of art management experience. Minimum of at least one current console generation title. Proficient with standard industry tools like Maya, Z-Brush or Mudbox, and Photoshop, with a high capacity to learn new tools. Demonstrate knowledge and application of current processes and techniques. Including, 3D modeling, shaders, lighting, and composition. Prior art management a must. Use with the Unreal 3 Engine or CryEngine a plus Passion for the industry and an understanding of market trends and styles Understanding of the development process, and the ability to work closely with the production team in creating schedules for the art department. Have a proactive work ethic, capable problem solver who is not afraid of big challenges. All candidates must deliver a full resume with samples to be considered for this position.
