Live Service Group Operations (that's Xbox Live Operations on steroids) in Entertainment and Devices is looking for an experienced Operations Engineer to join our team. You will be on the inside of the future of digital entertainment with the opportunity to make a difference. You will help build and manage Xbox Live, Xbox.com, and systems for Zune and other future projects. Duties/Responsibilities: o Proactively handle troubleshooting and resolution of issues that affect dev/test/operations teams, Xbox Live/Xbox.com/Zune customers, and external 3rd party partners. o Provide exceptional tier 3 support for all Xbox Live/Xbox.com/Zune environments. o Identify and drive root cause of environment issues and implement effective solutions. o Network troubleshooting, including VLANs, routing, interpreting network captures, etc. o 24x7 on-call rotation schedule. o Establish & continually improve operations procedures. o Rapid installation and configuration of server environments using deployment technologies. Qualifications: o Experience working in a 24x7 production environment, as well as multiple environments such as Test, Pre-Production, etc. (It's always prime-time somewhere for someone.) o Ability to be highly self-directed when required and work closely within a team. o Must be able to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks in accordance with high level projects/objectives. o Sound issue identification, resolution, judgment, and decision making skills . o Strong knowledge/troubleshooting of the memory models and management within W2K3 and Longhorn. o Experiece with creating & interpreting performance monitoring and advocating change where necessary. o Solid experience working with W2K3, Longhorn, IIS, SQL, XML, networking, and scripting. o Good customer service, strong interpersonal communication skills, effective written/oral communication, and time management. o The ability to lift up servers, storage, switches, routers, and other infrastructure hardware. o Must have broadband connectivity from your home.
