We currently have an opening in the Molecular Profiling Department for a Research Informatics Biologist that will work in a highly collaborative environment to support Mercks Infectious Disease and Vaccine franchise as well as the Bioprocess Research and Development department through the use of molecular profiling technologies for biomarker and target discovery. This position which will be based at Mercks research facility in West Point PA will have the following primary responsibilities:

1) collaborate with basic research pre-clinical and clinical scientists to design studies that heavily leverage MP technologies with a primary emphasis on RNA profiling but also including genotyping deep sequencing proteomics and metabolomics
2) integrate data from internal experiments with data in the public domain for biomarker and target discovery
3) translate the results from MP studies to concrete deliverables that enable the MRL drug discovery and development pipeline and collaborate with statisticians and bench scientists to develop robust clinical biomarker assays
4) contribute biomarker sections to clinical development plans and clinical protocols
5) leverage MP technologies to provide novel readouts that can help maximize the production of biologics and vaccine components

In addition this position will work with licensing professionals to review external opportunities and will be expected to publish patents and peer-reviewed scientific papers.Ph.D. and/or M.D. plus at least two years post-doctoral experience required. Experience must include application of Molecular Profiling technologies towards infectious disease vaccine research or bioprocess research for industrial protein production and analysis and interpretation of large MP data sets. Direct experience with clinical development or industrial bioprocess and strong statistical skills preferred. Excellent communication collaboration and organizational skills are essential.
