Under administrative direction of the Chancellor and in accordance with provisions of the Education Code, the rules and regulations of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, and the policies of the District, the Vice Chancellor –Workforce Development and Educational Services will provide leadership for District strategic planning, workforce development, information systems, MIS reporting, curriculum, instruction, student access, and professional development in the areas of educational programs and student services, career and occupational education, grants and resource development, and institutional research by performing the following essential functions:
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
- Provide overall leadership for the District occupational and workforce preparation program.
- Provide leadership for Occupational Education Advisory committee.
- Provide leadership for K-University partnerships.
- Serve as the District liaison to the Business Community.
- Provide leadership in planning, organizing, directing and administering occupational and career education programs district wide, with the assistance of the college administration.
- Represent the District at meetings and conferences called by state and federal agencies.
- Provide overall leadership in the collection of data and preparation of state and federal student and staff occupational education reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
DESIRABLE PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- A Doctorate is preferred
- Three years of administrative experience.
- Responsible track record of leadership in workforce development.
- Positive, dynamic human relations skills.
- Demonstrated success in fiscal and organizational management.
- Demonstrated success in a multi-ethnic, pluralistic environment and in responding to the needs of both the traditional and non-traditional student.
- Responsible track record in working with community groups.
- Effective communication skills.
- Active participation and responsibility in community and professional organizations.
- Demonstrated success in working with legal processes related to educational management.
- Commitment to and knowledge and understanding of the legislative process as it relates to community and economic development.
