As a member of Comcast’s Interactive Media Engineering team the candidate will provide technical leadership and expertise within cross-functional project teams. Responsibilities range from application server architecture to hands-on system administration, including: - Individual and collaborative design of server provisioning, including clustering and application replication - System administration for application and development servers - System optimization and performance tuning - Work closely with other software and QA engineers to build a quality product
 
 
 
Mandatory Qualifications: - Minimum of five (5) years systems administration experience for enterprise-level sites - Experience with both Solaris and Linux (Red Hat) administration - Familiarity with current best practices for configuration management, software installation/update, backup - Experience supporting/configuring web-based application server frameworks such as Struts, Spring, Tomcat - Experience with clustering/load balancing solutions - Experience configuring, monitoring, and optimizing enterprise-class databases including MySQL and Oracle - Familiarity with TCP/IP networking (including routing, DNS, HTTP) Additional Qualifications: - Utility programming with shell scripts / Perl / Python
- Familiarity with open source software: installation / support
- Version control systems (CVS, SVN)
- Software ticketing systems (bugzilla et al.)
- Support for wiki-based collaboration
 
- Load testing java applications – preparing schedules, recording scripts, generating and maintaining reports
- Profiling applications
- Java experience (optional)
