Microsoft Game Studios is looking for a veteran Lead Program Manager/Producer to help lead the development of a new broad-attraction flight-oriented game on the PC. The ideal candidate must possess the maturity to work in a team environment, foster camaraderie, provide leadership, and facilitate the involvement of all team members in the production process. RESPONSIBILITIES: Through cross-team collaboration, help shape high-level product requirements through a deep understanding of customer scenarios and business needs Drive the creation of detailed functional and technical specifications both first hand and by working with other PM's on the team Build, maintain and communicate a clear and reliable project schedule including major milestones and short-term deliverables Work collaboratively and cross-functionally (including Design, Art, Development, Test, Business Development, Usability, Marketing, Localization, etc) to drive features from start to finish Work across teams (including Games for Windows - Live, code security, anti- piracy, customer support and release services teams) to proactively identify and satisfy shipping requirements Represent the team and product in appropriate executive, partner and customer settings Ensure that the project is hitting its quality and "fun" goals while actively managing the schedule and milestone deliverables. Manage day-to-day development issues; identify problems in advance and drive creative solutions to fix them. Facilitate communication across the project team; clearly communicate tasks and responsibilities to staff Identify and remove roadblocks that prevent the team from performing to their highest potential. Provide regular status to the project team, leads and group manager, and MGS as appropriate. Mentor and grow individual contributor PMs QUALIFICATIONS: Experience shipping games. 3-5 years program management experience with at least one full product cycle in the lead PM role. Demonstrated strong communication, leadership and collaboration skills Strong Cross-Team Communication Skills. You can talk to creatives (e.g. artists and game designers), technical people (e.g. programmers), and non-technical people (e.g. PR and Marketing) alike. When conflicts occur, you bring people together, you listen, you mitigate, and you resolve. Deals with Ambiguity. There is no instruction manual on how to be a great leader. You use your instincts, experiences, and team to identify, assess, and solve problems quickly and frequently. Exceptional Organization Skills. You are detailed and organized. You never let anything fall through the cracks. You are clear, concise, and specific. When you participate in a meeting, you clarify, capture and follow up on all action items. Passion for and knowledge of games, the user experience, and the team development experience. Experience with release to web and on-line distribution models a strong plus.
