Click Here to Apply Online readMedia is looking for a talented software developer to join a profitable, fast-growing company that is on a path to revolutionize a big segment of the media industry. We have blue-chip backers, paying customers, a proven vision, lots of interesting work for you and a lot of upside.
We are currently working at enhancing and extending our online hyper local press release syndication application, as well as launching many new projects and offerings to better connect the media with the news they need via RSS feeds and efficient search algorithms. Our application relies on many parts working together, as well as very close attention to our clients' user experience and needs.
You will be a key member of our team and we will trust you with the freedom and responsibility to accomplish readMedia's goals by writing elegant, stable code. You must be self-motivated and able to excel without someone looking over your shoulder all of the time. We prefer people who are intellectually curious, like to solve problems, and who are passionate about their work. Ideally, you'll be curious about the business side of what we do and play a role beyond your day-to-day responsibilities. We prefer people who "punch above their weight" and can contribute more than the nuts and bolts listed on a resume.
Specifically, we're looking for:
* Real world experience developing, deploying and maintaining web-based applications. * A strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming and design. * A strong understanding of database design. * Proficiency in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, SQL, Javascript, HTML/CSS, UNIX, and at least one other object oriented programming language such as Java or C++. * Someone who (programmatically) tests the code they commit. * A team player with strong communication skills.
BIG bonus points for:
* B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent. * Experience programming with geographic data sets and Google Maps. * Amazon Web Services experience. * Mongrel, Apache, Memcached, Capistrano, Monit experience. * UNIX systems administration experience. * MySQL administration experience. * An eye for design and the skills to execute.
We subscribe to the Joel Spolsky criteria for all of our employees: people who are,
1. Smart, and? 2. Get things done.
