The Technical Lead at Roundarch is responsible for leading technical teams through all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle. The Technical Lead assumes ownership of the entire technical track of an engagement and all related modules. The Technical Lead may also be responsible for delivering high quality J2EE code in a timely manner on some engagements. They are responsible for managing multiple phases of the project lifecycle (i.e., design, develop, deploy) and will be responsible for requirements gathering, software design, development, and testing. Technical Leads must be proficient with J2EE and object-oriented programming, including software design and design patterns. Most development involves standard application servers such as BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere, and often incorporates package solutions such as BEA WebLogic Portal, Vignette Portal, or BroadVision.

Candidates must be proficient with standard Java development tools, including ANT, log4J, JUnit, and popular IDE's such as Eclipse or NetBeans. Proficiency with open source frameworks such as Struts, Tiles, Axis, and Hibernate is desired. Candidates must have IT consulting experience and be familiar with a team approach to execution. Candidates must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and be willing to travel.

Training is available on an as-needed basis to assist with project demands.

Required Experience
Candidates should have completed at least five full professional software engineering projects across multiple platforms and have acquired the following:
Programming Languages:
Core JAVA (JDK 1.4)
J2EE fundamentals, including JSP, Servlets, JDBC
Exposure to software design fundamentals and design patterns
Proficiency with web languages, including HTML and JavaScript. Alternate scripting languages such as Perl, PHP, or Python a plus
Computer networking and Unix fundamentals
Software Design and Development Processes:
OOAD / OOP
Rational Unified Process or strong full-cycle software development methodology experience; UML 2.0
Experience with software design, project management, and implementation tools, such as Rational Rose, ANT, JUNIT, IDE's, log4J, etc
Service Oriented Architectures and WebService architectures
Experience with open source frameworks such as Struts, Axis, Velocity, etc a plus
Strong enterprise integration experience, including experience with Middleware solutions
Basic knowledge of Internet security and strong experience in architecting secure applications
Significant experience with tuning and refactoring code and assessing the impact of architectural decisions on performance and scalability

Candidates should have experience with application servers and packages including:
BEA WebLogic or IBM WebSphere
Relationship database fundamentals and servers (e.g. Oracle, Sybase, etc)

Preferred:
Experience with a major portal package, such as BEA WLP, Vignette, IBM WebSphere Portal, BroadVision, etc
Experience with a major content management package, such as Interwoven, Vignette, etc
