The Windows Embedded CE (WCE) team releases technology that can address some 1.4 billon devices that are scheduled to ship in 2009. We work directly with partners to ship Navigation devices, Set-Top boxes and many other connected consumer devices. We also release a tool kit that allows OEMs to build any device that they could image, and they do -- everything from a sausage maker in Germany to an industrial controller in the US to make golf clubs. We see everything come though this group and it makes this group one of the most dynamic experiences that you can find at Microsoft. The Windows Embedded CE (WCE) multimedia team is looking for software developers to write applications & solutions for testing Direct Show and the latest features in Multimedia on embedded WCE platforms. Job duties include application & code development, automation test framework management, design documentation, and bug reporting. We look for peole with attention to detail and a never-say-die ability to overcome obstacles and multitask. We are looking for passionate engineers looking to take ownership of multimedia tasks for the next generation of WCE embedded devices. Basic Qualifications BSCS or equivalent additional experience 3+ years of C++ programming experience Excellent communication and organizational skills Fundamental computer science skills and passion for cutting edge multimedia development and design. Experience problem solving in coding and design Multithreaded development skills An understanding of product life cycle with experience shipping applications through a product cycle Ability to deal with challenges such as ambiguity, cross team collaboration and schedule constraints. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Direct Show, multimedia industry standards (e.g., UPnP, DLNA), and multimedia formats (e.g., MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, ASF, JPEG).   Direct Show - Experience writing applications that use DirectShow. Specific knowledge in implementing solution that use DirectShow filter at the high level. Knowledge of how to actually design & write the filter is not required.   COM & ATL - Direct Show is based on COM and the knowledge of how COM works and how ATL is used to extend COM functionality is a requirement for efficient Direct Show test code development.   Audio & Video Codec - Codec familiarity and knowledge of the different types available.
