McGraw-Hill Education addresses virtually  every aspect of the education market from pre-K through professional learning. Our technical innovations are changing the way people learn, with e-books, online tutoring, customized course Web sites and subscription services.  Now is the time to team up with our dynamic company as we create our next generation of who we need to be for our customers!    We are in search of a detailed, time sensitive and highly strategic  Financial Analyst II, who has incredible analytical skills, working in our corporate office in Monterey , CA .   In this role you will provide accurate, timely financial information in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policy to internal, group, segment and corporate management.  You will also follow appropriate financial controls to safeguard assets.    Support the monthly accounting close through analysis of the general ledger and various financial systems.  Report results to management.   Develop and maintain strong budgeting and estimating processes for assigned areas of responsibility to maximize company profitability.  Proactively alert management of significant variances to plan.  Critically evaluate financial performance against established benchmarks. Prepare various financial documents and commentary for CTB senior management and McGraw-Hill corporate review. Analyze and compare monthly and quarterly financial results to budget and estimate.  Provide guidance and recommendations to cost center managers on how to maximize performance within budgeted results.  Assist in the preparation of the financial plan for the company in alignment with company objectives and strategy.   Required Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance 2-3 years experience as a Financial Analyst with similar duties Detail-oriented with strong knowledge and experience in the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel required Proven ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with others is essential Must possess good communication skills and be deadline oriented Must be able to manage several projects at one time.  Project schedules and backup must be complete, accurate and follow proper audit standards.   Desired: CPA and/or MBA   About CTB/McGraw-Hill: As the nation's leading publisher of standardized and standards-based achievement tests for pre-school, elementary, middle, high school, and adult education, CTB/McGraw-Hill LLC offers a broad range of assessments, software and services.
