JOB DESCRIPTION:
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year experience within the last 3 years in the medical/surgical care setting.

Graduate of an accredited National League of Nursing (NLN) school.

Have passed a required medication test, which the contractor shall administer by proctor prior to employment.

Current license to practice nursing in at least one state in the United States.

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and current state license.

Specific Tasks:
Obtain patient history and pertinent family history.

Document plan of care and care given in patientīs clinical record.

Administer medication, assess and document patient response to medications administered.

Care for preoperative and post-operative patients.

Facility Information:
This 250-bed facility, conveniently located off I-185 on Marne Road, is the center for medical services at Fort Benning. Opened in 1958, it is one of the largest and most comprehensive community hospitals in the Army.

The hospital is recognized as one of the best in the nation for quality of care as certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and service to the community by the Army and TRADOC Communities of Excellence Evaluations.

Within the hospitalīs 10 floors, four of which are patient wards, an extensive surgical suite with same-day capabilities, a labor- delivery and recovery suite, and over 36 ambulatory care clinics. Martin Army Community Hospital maintains a fully accredited laboratory service, diagnostic radiology with computerized tomography and nuclear medicine, an extensive pharmacy service, and many other ancillary support services.

Daily, the hospital provides inpatient care to approximately 125 patients and averages nearly 1,800 outpatient visits. On the average, there are 3 babies born every day at Martin Army Community Hospital, and the hospitalīs Outpatient Pharmacy dispenses over 2,300 prescriptions.

Other specialty training programs include the clinical portion of the Armyīs Physician Assistant Program, a residency in Health Care Administration, Podiatric Surgery internship, training in several enlisted specialties, and numerous clinical rotations or externships conducted in cooperation with local colleges and universities.
