Click Here to Apply Online Ephraim McDowell Health JOB TITLE: Speech/Language Pathologist GRADE: 13B DEPARTMENT: Rehabilitation Services FLSA STATUS: Exempt RESPONSIBLE TO: Director, Rehabilitation/Wellness Services ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders, according to department policy and procedure. Exhibits the values of F.I.R.S.T. (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust) 1. Performs thorough and complete evaluation of physical and/or psychological disability to determine appropriate function upon receipt of physician's referral. 2. Administers Speech Therapy treatment to patients according to departmental policy and procedure in order to maximize their potential functioning. 3. Maintains and completes accurate documentation, departmental records and reports as established by departmental policies and procedures. 4. Ensures effective communication regarding Speech Therapy Programs between patient, family, physician's and team members to maximize the patient's functional abilities. 5. Operates and maintains equipment and environment in a safe and orderly manner. 6. Participates in Department's Student Program. 7. Considers the age of the patients served, applies knowledge of growth and development and age-specific techniques through the life span (neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients) in planning and implementing care. 8. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. 9. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. 10. Contributes to the effective operation of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. 11. Performs other related duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works inside a typical therapy setting, outpatient clinic, or off ground/unit activities as indicated. May be required to work a flexible schedule. Exposure to stress of dealing with patients/families experiencing pain/discomfort or who have physical/mental disabilities. CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Has contact with patients and patient family members, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, physicians, and other department staff. EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Computer, communication, therapeutic/technical skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS: Education: Master's degree in speech/language pathology or communication disorders. Experience: LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS: ASHA certification CCC/SLP; Kentucky Board of Speech - Language Pathology License.
