Position Responsibilities:

The primary focus of the chief engineer is to lead the electrical team in the development of new electromechanical products for targeted applications. This is a working-manager role (80/20 ratio). Value will be placed on technical leadership and management skills. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a history of commercial product accomplishments where schedules, budgets and cost targets were achieved. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate strong technical leadership and innovative spirit. Also required is the ability to adapt to the environment and work well with others. Finally the successful candidate must be fully supportive of the direction set by the engineering manager and the organization.

Leadership and Project Skills:

* Has staff supervisory experience and a proven record of staff development
* Can develop staff by training, coaching, and providing the knowledge and tools necessary to accomplish goals and assignments
* Provides technical engineering support for projects in development or construction.
* Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies. Reviews industry performance, analyzes industry trends, and maintains industry contacts
* Ensures project engineering activities comply with requirements
* Support overall construction budget and schedule
* Prepares and presents internal reports and updates required by senior management and project management
* Leads project for next-generation technologies including technical aspects and assisting with business direction
* Creates project schedules and cost estimates and can achieve the goals
* Establishes strong cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Excellent communicator with strong writing and oral presentation skills
* Effective in a concurrent engineering environment

Technical Skills:


* Digital design including microprocessors and embedded systems
* Experience with FPGA programming
* Experience designing motion control systems
* Analog design experience sufficient to guide analog engineers
* Servo controller deign or implementation and experience
* PLC controls and ladder logic program
* Safety compliance design and knowledge of UL, EU, CSA
* Programmable Logic, software experience (C/C++,C# and .Net a plus)
* Digital simulation and timing analysis
* Experience with aspects of systems engineering
* Test plan and test fixture development
* CAD experience for schematic entry and board layout
* Experience interpreting patents and developing intellectual properties

Qualifications:

* B.S. Degree in Assigned Technical Discipline, M.S. preferred
* At least 8 years experience in commercial product development
* US citizenship
* Ability and willingness to travel.
* Valid US passport
