The Ministry Developer will be a catalyst providing the passion, leadership and resources to develop effective new ministries and growth and enrichment of current ministries. He/she will also discover and build on the strength of congregation members and church attendees resulting in a growing and vibrant, Christ-centered congregation. The Ministry Developer will provide leadership and support for this congregation's primary growth initiatives: children, youth, family and intergenerational ministries; welcome ministries; and senior ministries; as well as small group development and congregational care under the supervision of the Pastor.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.) Ministry Program Creation: Identify, recruit, train and equip current and/or future leaders and prepare them for leadership through gift discovery, skill development, community building, and increased responsibility. Develop relationships, provide opportunities, encourage and welcome all members and attendees into ministry.
2.) Ministry Program Support: Increase the level of engagement of members and attendees in order to strengthen and grow existing ministries. Reach out to ministry leaders on a regular basis for mutual support, training, and edification. Assist congregational leaders in identifying people and informational resources to help them reach their specific or general ministry goals.
3.) Needs Assessment: Continually monitor the needs of the congregation: couples, single persons, single parents, children, teens, young adults, mature adults, seniors, etc., in order to find which existing or new ministries might support them or in which ministries they would be able to serve and grow. By listening and conversing with members and attendees, determine what new ministries are needed or how existing ministries need to be modified.
4.) Communication & Information Resource: Serve as the primary source of information regarding ministries for congregational leaders, members and attendees. Meet regularly with present ministry leaders for listening and brainstorming sessions. Devise, either independently or with others, mechanisms and events to facilitate effective communication and dissemination of information. Develop and maintain a spiritual gifts inventory to be easily accessed by congregational leaders and reported to individuals. Promote ministries and opportunities through writing/conversing and by other means. Participate in weekly staff meeting.
5.) Perform other tasks as needed to carry out the above-listed job description.

SKILLS AND APTITUDE:
· Self-starter, creative and able to work independently
· Able to articulate one's own growing, inspiring, and intentional Christian faith, congruent with Lutheran tradition.
· Passion for working among all generations and for building and nurturing Christian community.
· Welcoming, relational and approachable.
· Preferred: at least two years work experience that includes leadership of leaders (i.e. as a supervisor).
· Preferred: 4-year college degree in any field, background in education and/or Christianity.

CONTACTS: The Ministry Developer reports to the Pastor, however is involved with all the church staff and congregation, including visitors.

JOB CONDITIONS: Work will frequently include time between and after Sunday services to meet with guests and to build on existing relationships. Work may include phone calls from home and evening meetings. Expected time: approximately 25 hours per week.

EMPLOYEE APPRAISAL: Performance evaluated after first six months and annually thereafter.
