Responsible for the design, development and creation of less complex user-centered designs for web sites and other multimedia applications.

Responsibilities include human factors engineering, heuristic evaluations and usability testing for web and multimedia based applications as well as metrics setting and monitoring designed to assess the usability of the web / multimedia applications. Must be able to perform usability tests, provide design prototypes and provide ad hoc user interface consulting.

Responsible for working to improve the usability, usefulness, and desirability of less complex web / multimedia sites in collaboration with Educational Technologists, Graphic Designers, and other Multimedia Developers.
Responsible for requirements gathering and articulation of user interface issues?including development of web / multimedia prototypes.
Must be knowledgeable of user-centered design methodology, user scenarios, usability testing, storyboarding, paper and interactive prototypes.
Skills:
Working knowledge of:
Multimedia tools and environments, such as: HTML, CSS, XML, ColdFusion/ASP/PHP, JavaScript, Flash, PhotoShop and streaming video.
Computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging and maintenance techniques and practices.

Demonstrated ability to:
Write complex programs and develop detailed program specifications;
Analyze data and situations, reason logically and creatively identify problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions;
Apply creative thinking in the design and development of methods of processing data with electronic computers
Prepare and interpret structured and/or computerized diagramming techniques

Education and experience: A baccalaureate degree in an appropriate field.

Or a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an Associate degree in IS/CS plus 2 years of experience including; developing application requirements; design, development and / or maintaining a less complex web / multimedia, site / application; following web / multimedia standards, system life-cycle standards and IS Architectural and Security protocols; providing application-specific user support; and working effectively with close oversight.

Working knowledge of:
One or more multimedia tool, such as: HTML, CSS, XML, ColdFusion/ASP/PHP, JavaScript, Flash, PhotoShop and streaming video.
Basic computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging and maintenance techniques and practices.
