More specifically, the Staff VP will lead and direct the internal and external reporting and informatics functions for 360 Health to perform substantive, comprehensive quantitative analyses to facilitate data-driven decision making and position WellPoint competitively relative to outcomes, clinical operations and profitability. This person will conduct in-depth analyses using disease management predictive models, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of ongoing program evaluation techniques. He or she will also design and direct brand and client specific evaluation efforts for all programs, and ensure optimal use of available data and systematic proactive evaluation and management of all reporting processes. The Staff VP will make financial and clinical projections based on data analysis and evaluation, and develop information, templates, and models relevant to the client contracting process. He or she will consult with the Staff VP of Finance and other executive staff to develop appropriate risk models for external clients, ensuring management of WellPoint's financial health. The Staff VP will direct the research and development efforts of the client outcomes team, and validate program outcomes and effectiveness. Finally, he or she will hire, train, coach, counsel and evaluate performance of direct reports.

Skills:
Requires a Masters degree in biostatistics, business, research or closely related field; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. PhD preferred. Proven skills in research design, analysis, data mining, IM, Informatics, and project/staff management. Experience in biostatistics and population based studies; knowledge and experience with SAS strongly preferred; healthcare industry knowledge and experience required. Ability to manage and lead multi-functional teams and synthesize and organize information rapidly; ability to write results in peer-reviewed publication level quality.Other beneficial experience:- Experience of managing a large team of highly analytical staff - Experience in disease/care management industry or health insurarnce- Experience in producing comprehensive care management reports based on health insurance claims data and interpreting and presenting the outcome to clients.- Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills.- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to present analysis outcome to senior executives and external clients. - Strong ability to collaborate across function and across department and lead cross functional initiatives
