The Windows Mobile OS Platform team is responsible for building a rock solid, extensible, and updatable platform that seamlessly connects people to the people, information and applications that make Windows Phones an essential part of their work and play. The OS Platform PM team is looking for a Principal Program Manager (reports to the OS Platform GPM) to lead efforts around planning upcoming milestones, prioritizing features and driving a complex portfolio of release milestones and exit criteria for six product teams. In addition, the Principal PM will be responsible for driving a coordinated approach to the definition, design and development of several user scenarios that span across multiple product teams with relatively complex interdependencies. This position will require fairly intensive cross-group collaboration, representing the product team in Ship Room and presenting plans to senior management and external partners on a regular basis. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated Program Manager who is capable of working independently while being a great team player with deep experience on large, complex projects that require a high degree of cross-group collaboration and intensive project management skills. In addition, this position requires a clear focus on delivering great user scenario experiences while leveraging operating system platform assets including core OS infrastructure, networking, device Base System Platform components/drivers and device update/installation technologies. The ability to balance a pragmatic "ship-it" mentality with the creativity to find innovative solutions to difficult technical issues will plan an important role in the success of this position. Candidates should have a BA/BS in Computer Science or related engineering discipline and at least 10-15 years experience in Program Management or a related role. Prior experience designing and shipping a complex technology area or version 1.0 products is a requirement. Experience with Windows CE/Windows Mobile, operating system components and/or embedded systems are big pluses. Other preferred skills include: Strong communication and presentation skills Product planning, release, and project management (ship-it) skills A passion for seamless hardware/software integration Strong interest in and aptitude for learning new technologies and design skills Strong written and oral communication skills Drive for results, initiative and desire to impact the mobile industry through increasing the influence of Windows Mobile platform Excellent problem solving and strong cross group collaboration skills Strong customer awareness and empathy, and desire to work closely with customers Proven experience in end-to-end project management of complex product life cycles
