The Associate General Counsel I (Legal Affairs & Litigation) is responsible for providing a wide range of legal advice to the BAE Systems, Inc. Headquarters. Areas of responsibility include supporting the Headquarters functions by advising on, among other things, corporate governance matters, ethics, employment law issues, employee benefits matters, government security requirements, financial transactions, procurements, political activities, and safety, health and environment (SHE) issues. The position also supports the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel in handling litigation and helps to coordinate BAE Systems, Inc. legal function issues.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Support the General Counsel and other USHQ attorneys in wide range of issues facing Inc.
Advise various USHQ functions (including HR, Finance, Procurement, IT, Government Relations, Ethics, Contracts, Security, and Safety, Health, & Environment) on legal issues relating to those functions.
Assist the Operating Groups with selected legal matters.
Coordinate with government agencies and industry groups as appropriate.
Help coordinate Inc. legal function issues.
Requirements
Analytical thought needed to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations, without supervision.
Directly impacts the quality of services provided by self or others.
Communicates sensitive information, modifies beliefs or opinions within a Program or Line of Business.
Negotiates mainly internally, at higher levels, and occasionally with external relationships.
Senior Project/Program team member responsible for work flow which is varied in nature with situations frequently requiring new solutions.

LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND.

J.D. with 4-7 years experience
