Develops and utilizes cell based assays to define MOA of pharmacological agents. Maintains scientific laboratory excellence.

? Designs research protocols and conducts experimental studies using standard and innovative scientific approaches and techniques.
? Conducts in vitro cellular assays to support validation of multiple targets in parallel. Implements a comprehensive strategy or aspects of it including a genetic pharmacological and biological intervention to validate a target.
? Independently analyzes data and interprets the results of experiments. Publishes and presents findings and conclusions. Collaborates with other discovery groups Central Teams and COEs. May represent Basic Research on EDT/PDTs.
? May represent functional group on cross-functional project teams; monitors external trends and developments; develops contacts external to the area and/or company. May provide direction and guidance to professional staff to enable them to carry out their work. May include supervisory responsibilities for a small work group.

Educational Requirements:

Required:

? Skilled in in vitro sciences.
? Ability to thrive in a team environment.
? Skill in developing basic cellular assays to support validation of a target.
? Ability to identify and validated molecular targets in vitro that play a key role in a particular disease process.
? Skill in conducting experiments using small molecules proteins disruptive nucleic acids and antibodies to determine their effects (phenotype) on the target gene.
? Expertise in Cell Biology and/or Cellular Biochemistry.
? Ability to apply knowledge to the experimental laboratory setting with strong laboratory techniques.
? Skill in studying function of target gene in a cellular environment using a variety of analytical approaches (biochemical molecular profiling).
? Ability to accurately record data/experiments.
? Collaborate: Foster and model collaboration and teamwork and bring out the best in others.
? Achieve Results: Strive for and achieve critical business results while holding high standards for performance and effectively mobilize resources.
? Optimize Operations: Continuously assess and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency in support of strategy execution.
? Deep understanding of one or more of the following: molecular biology biochemistry cell biology.
? Collaborative skills (with other groups such as COEs etc).
? Ability to communicate clearly and candidly.

? Written and oral presentation skills (e.g. SOPs).
? Ability to apply knowledge to the experimental laboratory setting with strong laboratory techniques.

Desired:

? Expertise in manipulation of primary cells.
? Deep understanding of neurobiology/neuroscience.
