For more information, please visit us at www.texaspetrochemicals.com Job Responsibilities include: Providing technical support for the operating area to assure safe, environmentally sound, reliable and profitable operation. Attend the daily operation meeting and identify and implement changes to improve the operating efficiency. Conduct preliminary investigations into abnormal operations and incidents. This includes identifying and following up on action items. Initiate and lead and/or participate in Root Cause Investigations. Support effort to follow and track product quality of material. Ensure compliance with PSM requirements. Specific examples include initiating MOC's, develop accurate PSI, and assist maintenance to achieve mechanical integrity. Supply technical support to EHS. Be the primary contact with EH&S for plant. Evaluation of equipment performance by using simulations, heat and material balance, line loss calculations, pump performance, etc. Responsible for identifying and tracking key performance indicators. Fill in for Plant Manager and Production Coordinator in their absence. Participate in weekend duty on a rotating schedule. Identify projects to improve safety and environmental performance, reliability, and profitability. Provide engineering expertise in the justification, scope development, and implementation of these projects. Monitor process performance of operating units and provide technical advice for optimizing rates, yields, quality and variable costs. Accountable for key performance indicator identification and targets. Provide technical guidance for meeting regulatory requirements. Provide coaching and training for operations to raise the technical competency and allow continued improvement in operations. Identify and develop scopes of work to capture process improvements. Personal (self) development. Adjust plant instructions and targets. Authorize raw material and product quality. Dictate project scope requirements that influence process area of responsibility. Assist with scope development for equipment turnaround schedule and detail. Required Skills: Strong written and verbal communication involving a broad array of engineering disciplines and organizational levels. Command of general chemical process industry principles and calculations. Operation and/or design experience with distillation, extraction, heat transfer, rotating equipment (such as compressors and pumps), and storage equipment. Familiar with developing or manipulating engineering tools such as PFD's, P&ID's, simulation (such as Aspen). Familiar with reading and developing process control basic logic used to communicate with a control engineer. Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills used for project development or optimizing operating parameters. Consistently demonstrates initiative, productivity and independence to attain results. Proactive in resolving conflicts. Consistently expresses views with confidence and conviction. Organization and time management skills. Experience Required: 5+ years of plant operations experience required.
