Power and Associates, Platts, McGraw-Hill Construction, Aviation Week, and Broadcasting.   McGraw-Hill Education addresses every aspect of the education market from PreK-12 through professional learning.  Although we recognize the important role of traditional learning materials, today our business is rapidly moving toward digital solutions by adapting McGraw-Hill's quality content to the latest technologies.  Our technical innovations are changing the way people learn, with e-books, online tutoring, customized course Web sites, and interactive simulation subscription services.   The Higher Education, Professional, and International Group, a division of McGraw-Hill Education, is a leading technological innovator, as well as provider of traditional learning materials, to the higher education market.  Our professional publishing operations provide essential information and expert guidance in business, education, consumer, medical, scientific, and technical fields.   We are looking for a Publisher, Science for the Science division of McGraw-Hill Higher Education located in Dubuque, IA.   The Publisher, Science is responsible for the assigned publishing program, meeting or exceeding revenue, profit and corporate quality goals.  This leadership role will also hire, train, and manage editorial staff.  Prepare and administer budget.  Assist VP/EIC in preparation and implementation of strategic plans.  This responsibility will include approximately 50% sponsoring editor work and 50% supervision and managing work.   Essential Accountabilies:    Analyze and evaluate assigned markets, identify optional growth opportunities.  Coordinate and supervise market research studies which verify the accuracy and appropriateness of prescribed publishing programs.  Prepare and manage publishing programs by market area which identify opportunities, company position and market trends.  Supervise the negotiation of new publishing agreements ensuring that group quotas, gross margins, contribution margins, net operating income, etc., standards are met.  Supervise the acquisition of new products, verify the competitive quality of new projects and revisions.  Acquire new products, manage   competitive quality of specific titles, new and revised.  Ensure that new contract and revision proposals accurately describe primary market, primary competition, competitive advantages of proposed product, expected market share, manufacturing specifications and manuscript due dates.  Ensure that manuscript preparation schedules which maximize sales potential are established and maintained.  Ensure that manuscripts turned over to production are complete and acceptable in content and form.   Bachelor's Degree.  Graduate training in business beneficial.   Five-ten years successful record in publishing, editorial acquisition, product development, and sales.   Familiarity and working knowledge of entire publishing process (financial analysis, acquisition, manufacturing and marketing).   Previous management experience necessary.   Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential.   Ability to travel extensively  (25%-50%).
