Join ATK in this management role, and you will join an outstanding team of people who are leading the integration of Mission Systems group, and its associated divisions! This is an excellent opportunity to join our staff in a role that will provide strategic direction for ATK Aerospace Structures.
Alliant Techsystems, Aerospace Structures, with an office located in Dayton, OH is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager that provide technical direction and organizational leadership to the Mechanical Engineering Department, made up of approximately 8 Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineers. In this position, you will be reporting into the Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Lead the development team in product development of antennas and aerospace composites structures.
- Focus on designing and fabricating innovative composite product designs and processes, as well as material selection and recommendation.
- Participate in the development, management, and successful completion of government and industry R&D programs involving composite materials technologies in such areas as shipbuilding and aerospace applications.
- Write proposals, technical reports, and create presentations.
- Translation of requirements definition and analytical results into hardware designs, preparation of Engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, procedures and reports, and providing Engineering support/direction in response to issues and/or improvement opportunities identified by other organizations within the site.

Requirements for this position include:
- Bachelors degree in Composites, Materials, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; Masters degree in a related field is required.
- 15 years or more of relevant work experience in the aerospace industry. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with experience in conformal antenna design, low observable and RCS reduction techniques. 5 years or more of engineering functional management in an Aerospace environment.
- Composite design experience with FiberSim or CATIA composites desired. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Must be proficient in Geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing and ANSI drafting standards.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and CMMI Level 3 quality standards.
- Tooling design and assembly jigs for large components such as aircraft skins, stringers, layup tools, composite bondments and weldments.
- Design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) and failure analysis with Kepner- Trego.
- Must have proven organizational skills and leadership characteristics.
- Ability and desire to travel in support of customer and company needs (domestic only).
