Click Here to Apply Online The Data Associate supports the effective use of Data Quality methodologies within S&P Initiatives (Cross Reference Services, Evaluations and US Dividends) with a strong emphasis on six sigma adherence; ensures data integrity and quality; and partners with management to implement new policies and procedures. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Define and implement Process Review methodology, applying DMAIC and DMADV methodologies Implement Six Sigma practices across the Data organization, specifically in regards to active Data Operations Initiatives (Project Power, ePAD, etc.) Define the metric requirements of our analysts by understanding how individuals, business units and clients process information Working with Business Units to understand their current and future expectations on data accuracy, completeness and timeliness Developing the methodology to measure and report data metrics to Data Operations, Business Unit and S&P Senior Management teams Use metrics based results to drive toward true root cause of problems and institute changes for permanent prevention Provide general and detailed support for data projects in the organization, to include setting up quality metric methodology around new data being collected and/or being a level of sign-off before accepting new content internally produced into production products Deliver recommendations of sources, workflow and process re-design focusing on higher quality deliverables for the business Conduct Data Audits on areas of content believed to be suspect or to ensure integrity in cases of potentially expanding audiences Ensuring the necessary level of quality control checks on data production are in place and providing the intended value to its users Working with technical and development teams to ensure appropriate implementation of data changes Contribute to the evolution of the Quality Program in an effort to push toward industry accepted best practices. Determine if newly emerging methodologies apply and if so make recommendations for adoption within Data Operations. This could include exposure to six-sigma concepts and other statistical methodologies used within the market to validate the quality of the data for our stakeholders Promoting Quality Awareness throughout the organization. Preparing and providing training to individuals within the Ratings organization to ensure every individual understands data quality and the impact of compromised results Drive development of databases, systems and products to deliver new capabilities for commercial products Manage and run ad hoc data queries from multiple databases focusing on data processing to identify inconsistencies and support data production groups' initiatives Utilize data and data mapping process to respond to inquires on data quality Develop and implement performance metrics Partner with Associates in the international subsidiary based in Mumbai to help implement/coordinate data strategies Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance CPA, CFA and/or an advanced degree a plus Minimum of 5 years work experience Minimum 3 years work experience working with financial or fundamental data Greenbelt / Yellowbelt experience essential Six sigma Blackbelt qualification preferred Understanding of basic statistical analysis Preferably experience with data mining tools (i.e. Business Objects, Toad, Trillium) Working knowledge of SQL with ability to write queries for reporting purposes Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and advanced Access skills, including the ability to create queries, tables and reports within MS Access Intermediate leadership skills Advanced communication skills (written and oral) Advanced problem solving skills Advanced multi-tasking skills Advanced group facilitation skills Ability to work well within the context of a team Ability to meet strict deadlines
