The candidate selected for this position will work in a pain management clinic as a specimen processor. Patients being seen at the clinic are on high doses of pain medication and must submit to a prescription monitoring test to receive refills of prescribed medication. The specimen processor will be responsible for leading patients through the urine sample process by greeting the patient, putting the patient at ease and labeling the sample for delivery to the lab for analysis.

The duties include supervising all aspects of the urinalysis procedure through daily interaction with clinic staff and patients.

Key areas of responsibility
• Compiling a list of the patient’s medication by consulting his or her medical chart.
• Collecting demographic information from the patient such as age, weight, height, gender and most importantly last time medication was administered.
•Labeling the sample in front of the patient and requiring the patient to sign the label.
• Preparing shipping documentation and properly packaging sample for pick up.
• Taking inventory of sampling supplies and ordering when necessary.
• Maintaining a high level of accuracy in all documentation.

Qualifications
• Strong sense of customer service
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• At least one year experience in the medical field
• Can communicate effectively with both clinic staff and patients
• Works well under minimal supervision
