Essential Functions:
This position provides quality patient care including exam, diagnosis, treatment, education and counseling for clients in accordance with agency protocols. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Securing a complete health history, including gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, and psychosocial: and records finding accurately and succinctly.
Performing physical exams with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examination, pelvic examination, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, and other types of more specialized procedures as may be indicated by medical policy.
Performing, ordering, and interpreting diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by affiliate medical protocols.
Recognizing and treating minor deviations from the normal, using prescribed protocols and consulting with the physician as needed.
Providing relevant health instruction to include family planning, nutrition, sexual counseling, and principles of health promotion and maintenance.
Collaborating with the health team and other community agencies and resources through joint planning and coordinating of activities, in providing comprehensive care.
Working to insure understanding and acceptance, by colleagues, other professional, consumers, and the community at large, of the role of the clinician.
Education and Experience:
Completed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Course Work.
A valid and current California
license as a Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant
Current furnishing license.
Current CPR certification is required.
Current ACLS certification may be required.
At least one year of experience in women's health care is preferred.
National Certification is recommended.
DEA # may be required.
