The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for providing technical support in the field of process automation. This role requires development and application of technical expertise in order to support process automation systems in a regulated cGMP environment. Actively participate in automation system shakedown qualification startup and on-going operation for hardware system software & application software. Automation systems to be supported include a custom Delta V distributed control system (DCS) as well as programmable logic controllers (PLC) and supervisory control & data acquisition (SCADA) delivered by original equipment manufacturers. Actively support participate and embrace an empowered team culture including significant interaction with manufacturing quality and engineering groups.
Primary activities include but are not limited to the following. Responsible for working as part of an empowered team to achieve site mission vision and goals through:
Efficient and safe operation of automated systems
Compliance with current good manufacturing processes
Producing product that is safe and efficacious
System administration
Standard operating procedure development
System security - including user/password maintenance
Virus protection updates
Supplier management (service contracts)
Backup/recovery
Daily checks & performance monitoring
Required:
A Bachelor degree is required. A concentration preferably in Engineering Science or Information Technology.
A minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing technical support application development or equivalent with emphasis on process automation.
This position will have an in-depth understanding of administration and technology to include design analysis capacity planning application interfaces and standard system administration.
Will have cross functional responsibilities for activities within the department to include working in hardware software and customer/project support functions.
Resolves complex technical problems.
Manages and implements limited scope projects.
Coordinates implementation of defined scope projects.
Must have strong communication (written/verbal) skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and advance several tasks in parallel
Effective troubleshooting skills and sound technical
