Position Summary
* Establish, via each OEM and Tier Level Sales Engineer, and oversee the development of product specifications with Design, Component, Mechanical, Purchasing and/or Manufacturing Staff at OEM vehicle manufacturer (DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Co., General Motors) gaining corporate approval and generally disseminating knowledge of company products (connectors and terminal). Promoting the global company organization and capabilities in the process. Further exploit the contacts established within the customers by the OEM and Tier Level Sales Engineers to learn of new product and technology requirements and opportunities in advance of actual and specific platform needs for such technologies and communicate such needs to the National Industry Manager - Automotive.
* Ensure adherence to and support of, directed purchase pricing at the Tier Level customers - established via the negotiations of the OEM Sales Engineers and the OEM customer base. Ensure the uniform development of customer profile files for all OEM and Tier Level customers by all Sales Engineers.
* Develop a thorough understanding of customer specific product needs, identifying the similarities as well as the differences in each customer's product utilization strategies.
* Coordinate account activities, including: new platform activity, design competition activity, OEM customer involvement, manufacturing logistics, negotiated contract pricing, problems and direction via communication with the National Industry Manager – Automotive and OEM Sales Engineers, as required.
* Oversee the continuous expansion and maintenance of the customer contact database.
* Ensure development and accuracy of a combined (all OEM activity potential and directed purchasing) annual customer-based business plan, which is to include OEM-level sales forecast (based on vehicle platform knowledge) and strategies for the various market/application segments to ensure continued sales and bookings growth in conjunction with company corporate goals.
* Provide product and sales training, leadership and direction to junior staff members, joint sales calls with OEM and tier-level automotive sales engineers, coordinating activities with those sales engineers at Target Accounts within all customers.


Requirements
* A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing
* Minimum of 6 years outside sales experience at the product development level, plus 5-6 years outside sales experience at the vehicle manufacturer (OEM) level and a background in connectors.
* Must have prior leadership/management experience.
