Minimum Requirements:

Required Skills
* Five or more years of practical, hands-on experience with a systems monitoring tool such as NerveCenter from OpenService, HP Openview, Tivoli, FireScope, or equivalent;
* A background in Unix. More specifically, must have at least six years of Unix systems administration experience;
* Experience with the SNMP protocol, MIB objects, and community strings;
* Experience with one or more scripting/programming languages, for example, awk, perl, shell; needed to automate administrative tasks, troubleshoot and/or modify existing tools, create new scripts where required;
* Highly developed troubleshooting and analytical skills; ability to find creative solutions to problems;
* Ability and eagerness to come up to speed quickly on all technologies used by the group;
* A 24x7 mindset: ensure that the team provides exception support and coverage regardless of when issues arise;
* A great attitude is essential. Must work well without direct supervision and as part of a team.
Desired Skills
* Knowledge of the following:* BMC's Remedy trouble ticketing system;
* BMC's Atrium CMDB.
* Familiarity with any of the following:* Cacti, a shareware data trending tool;
* IBM Websphere MQ;
* Knowledge of IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Tivoli Monitoring, and Omegamon for MQ monitoring.
* Should be knowledgeable about networking concepts: basic TCP/IP, Solaris and/or Linux network commands, experience with netmasks and how to interpret them, tools used to troubleshoot network-related problems, etc. (Note: Deep knowledge of routing protocols and WAN technologies is not required.)

Description:
Seeking an engineer with at least ten years of experience to be part of a group responsible for the systems management platform. This role involves a mixture of architecture, engineering, and support for the various tools owned by the group: server and application monitoring tools, trouble ticketing tools, data trending tools, job scheduling, and MQ. Qualified candidates must have experience with systems monitoring concepts and tools
