Position Summary: To manage all aspects of computer operations, technical support, and network availability. To ensure data integrity in the event of equipment failure or catastrophic loss.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Chief Technology Officer.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
:
1. Responsible for the design, purchasing, implementation, and maintenance of the corporate computing infrastructure including network equipment, data circuits, file and application servers, data security, desktop computers, printers and peripheral equipment.
2. Develops policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and a high level of systems availability.
3. Maintains a high level of skill in all aspects of system and network administration to assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing system related problems.
4. Responsible for effective vendor management that generates substantial cost savings and improves the quality of work received from the vendors.
5. Maintains all computer related service contracts, prepares competitive bids for equipment and approves invoices for payment.
6. Provides leadership and supervision to the operations team, including strategic planning, preparing performance evaluations, salary reviews, and career planning.
7. Develops and performs periodic testing of a computer disaster recovery plan.
8. Other such duties and projects as assigned.
Skills/Education/Experience Required:
1. Must have strong organizational and analytical skills. Must be able to prioritize and implement multiple projects, tasks and assignments.
2. Must be an expert problem solver with advanced knowledge of networking equipment, protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.
3. Must have the ability to understand and apply knowledge found in technical manuals, online forums, and other documentation.
4. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and vendors in both oral and written form.
5. Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding and working knowledge of computer hardware, Microsoft operating systems and software product installation, system tuning and maintenance.
6. Must have a working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems.
7. Must have strong WAN/LAN troubleshooting skills specifically in MPLS, TCP/IP, Microsoft networking and Cisco routers.
8. Education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
9. Five or more years of related experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities This position supervises the Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, Help Desk Technician, and may from time to time provide technical direction and advice to other members of the Information Systems department.
