The Windows Mobile Phone Group part of the Entertainment and Device division is one of Microsoft's fastest growing; most cutting edge businesses. The Windows Phone Entertainment team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to help on our Multimedia team through our next big release. The Multimedia team is looking for an experienced developer to work on our next-generation of Windows Mobile Multimedia infrastructure. We are a small team of developers responsible for the architecture and drivers in support of DirectShow, Imaging, Capture, media playback, Digital Rights Management (DRM) implementation on Windows Mobile. Our code is used in a variety of consumer electronics devices including Smartphones, PocketPCs, Set-top boxes, portable media centers, and a range of other media appliances. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): Design, development, and maintenance of device driver models for our multimedia stack. Design, development and maintenance of the DirectShow and multimedia infrastructure. Development and designing enhancements for new DRM systems, media playback and media type protocols. As well as development of prototype and sample DirectShow filters, and support of multimedia ISVs and OEMs. Qualifications: Strong analytical and C++ programming/debugging skills are required. Candidates must also possess solid cross team collaboration and Engineering Practice skills. Experience developing device drivers in the multimedia space and/or experience and passion to learn about the development of media playback, DRM systems and/or DirectShow applications or components for Windows XP, Vista, or Windows CE is desired. Component level development experience with Directx, DirectShow, OpenMAX, Quicktime, and/or general multimedia formats and protocols is advantageous. A BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline and 2+ years experience in software development.
