Position Overview

Responsible to plan coordinate and implement safe cost effective compliant (GMP/environmental) engineering utility and maintenance services for all assigned facilities at the West Point Site.

Primary Activities

For assigned areas:

Controls the area budget and coordinates functions with the other support areas.
Responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of all utility and building systems.
Provides maintenance service with internal work force and outside contractors for assigned area.
Is technically proficient in all operations/systems and effectively manages the activities and coordination of shop areas.
Coordinates and leads the plant safety program for the area.
Implements the Performance Management system for all direct reports and provides input to appraisals for staff in the area.
Provides effective performance feedback and assures that salaried personnel receive appropriate safety technical managerial and leadership training.
Develops and implements plans to improve/enhance supervisory and higher level performance.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Electrical or Chemical Engineering

Required
Experience:

Minimum eight (8) years in maintenance management or engineering fields with demonstrated applicable technical and managerial success.
Experience must include responsibility for labor relations management.

Knowledge:

Broad working knowledge of Merck & Co. pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing and maintenance management systems and practices.
Excellent verbal and written communications organizational/follow-up/control and leadership/employee development/teamwork skills are essential.
In-depth knowledge of maintenance cost financial systems and analysis and regulatory/Corporate policy standards are required.
