This individual will provide strategic planning, direction and management for Corporate Information Management's global employee communications, overseeing the technology organization's vehicles for internal mass communications, leadership activities (internal and external) and supporting technology implementations with internal communications programs. The Director will produce proactive communications to increase awareness of major initiatives, as well as products and services. Reinforces IT's value proposition to the Segments and the McGraw-Hill enterprise. In addition, this individual will provide change communications support on new initiatives and be responsible for leveraging existing and new channels to reinforce employee awareness of vision, strategies and major initiatives. Principle Accountabilities Establish ongoing collaboration with the VP-Corporate Communications and his/her team to ensure that Corporate IM communications are aligned with Enterprise approaches and goals. Provide strategic communication leadership to the enterprise technology team Develop and implement communication strategy to support global technology organization goals and functional areas within Corp IM, including: Global Operations & Infrastructure, IM Finance, Risk Management, Enterprise PMO, Worldwide Sourcing, and Enterprise Architecture Provide executive communications support related to periodic updates for business and IT leaders; CEO Council; CIO Council; Tech Ops; Town Halls; Management Roundtables; and other IT speaking platforms Manage development and delivery of enterprise-wide communications including organization announcements, new product launches, service updates Maintain tools and templates to support project managers with customer and employee-facing communications; evolve the Corp IM Web site for employee and technology resources Develop efficient and effective communication strategies including the use of email, voicemail, videoconferencing electronic publications and intranet enhancements Help drive IT strategic agenda by capitalizing on thought leadership opportunities for senior leadership via: industry speaking engagements; global and regional business leadership events and other targeted opportunities Coordinate IM leadership events and support employee recognition events Collaborate effectively with communication counterparts: Corporate, Segment, BPM Dimensions Manage a team of 3-4 contract resources with associated budget Participates as a member of functional IT leadership teams to drive messaging based on business strategy Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all internal clients, including senior management Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across Corporate and the segments Experience managing projects, as well as the ability to show strategic thinking, sound judgment and organizational skills Superb ability to positively influence others in a team setting Ability to work and adapt in a dynamic environment and identify issues, prioritize work and escalate accordingly Excellent presentation skills Ability to manage outside vendors Excellent financial/budget management budget Minimum of BA/BS degree in Communications, Journalism, English or equivalent; advanced degree is preferred Minimum of 10 years experience in managing communications programs Demonstrated understanding and track record in creating and managing broad employee communications initiatives within a large corporation Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of communications vehicles and how to use them effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required Experience developing and executing strategic communication plans is required Project management experience, using formal project management methodology techniques, and tools is preferred IT communications industry experience is preferred Global, cross-functional team experience is preferred
