Engineering Manager

Provide management systems and technical direction to a specific (substation) engineering & design business for the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering & design services. Manage specific engineering & design business revenue and profitability goals. Personnel responsibilities include carrying out such programs as affirmative action, training, performance appraisal, compensation, employee recruiting, succession planning and adherence to standards of conduct. Provide high-level overview, expertise and direction on complex engineering and technical problems in the area of expertise for the management of domestic and/or international engineering projects.

Job Requirements:

* Provide management leadership to ensure the availability of a skilled, qualified, and motivated workforce
* Manage the portfolio of technical disciplines within the specific engineering & design area and alter the technical capabilities of the department to or in anticipation of changing market conditions. Ensure that all staffing and utilization goals are met
* Provide technical leadership to ensure that all specific engineering services are provided per applicable professional codes and standards
* Ensure that client relations are properly maintained and Pike Electric market reputation is enhanced.
* Ensure appropriate estimating/ risk management input is provided for all business proposals and contract negotiations
* Adhere to and help advance Pike Electric corporate safety policy
* Ensure administrative duties are carried out in accordance with company policy

Must Haves:

* Looking for someone with a PE plus around 8 -15 years of experience who desires to progress into management. The individual would the lead Engineer overseeing 8 – 12 other Engineers.
* Excellent organizational and planning skills
* Demonstrated negotiating and decision making skills
* Demonstrated management and business skills
* Demonstrated skills in providing leadership, motivation, vision, and direction
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
* Registration as Professional Engineer
* Significant experience at a professional level in electrical power systems engineering work related to planning, designing, and operating T&D systems which demonstrates a progressive development of competence
* Membership in professional societies is desirable
