This position exists to lead the IT architectural disciplines across WellPoint. This individual will provide leadership and direction related to all enterprise, information, application, integration, business, and integration activities within the IT organization.
The Chief Architect is responsible for stewarding and evolving the architecture practice within WellPoint and leading and developing all architects within WellPoint. Additional the Chief Architect is responsible for establishing relationships with key business and technical executives. This role reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

Responsibilities:
* Develop a high performance Architecture team responsible for delivering end to end architecture to support projects
* Develop high performance Application, Information, Integration, Infrastructure, and Business Architecture teams responsible defining and delivering architecture blueprints and solutions
* Develop a high performance Project Architecture team responsible for detailing out requirements and designs of new solutions during the delivery lifecycle.
* Develop technology domains (e.g., enterprise content management, data management, etc.) to provide standard, reusable reference architectures
* Drive the strategic direction of information, application, and integration capabilities in coordination with the IT Strategic Planning process
* Provide leadership and direction in developing blueprints across WellPoint that enables WellPoint's business strategies
* Provide leadership and direction to the architecture professionals within the organization (staff development, performance management, talent management, forecasting of skill needs, training)
* Awareness of industry, competitor, and technology analysis to identify best practices and trends and the ability to advise and recommend adoption within WellPoint
* Develop and promote Communities of Interests to ensure knowledge and skill sharing and development
* Support and collaborate with IT Strategy & Planning, Technology Platform Strategy, Portfolio Management, and Application Development
* Manage Architecture P&L
Support and collaborate with the Business Relation Management team to optimize the value of IT delivered to the business

Skills:
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE* 15 years of professional technology leadership experience* A strong understanding and working knowledge of:* Software development lifecycle* Systems architectures and infrastructures* Object-oriented and component based technologies* Multi-tier distributed component based technologies* Numerous software development technologies and methodologies* Current and emerging integration tools and techniques* Information and data modeling tools and techniques* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a large organization of highly skilled IT architects and designers* Demonstrated knowledge of Healthcare industry trends* In-depth knowledge of all architectural disciplines (Application, information, integration, infrastructure, and business architecture)* Strategic planning expertise* Demonstrated strong leadership skills* Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills* Excellent written and verbal communication skillsEDUCATION* Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field* Masters Degree or higher preferred
