DescriptionKey Role: Provide technical consulting services to clients in the energy sector with an emphasis on electricity transmission and distribution. Assume a leadership role to perform technical and economic assessments and analyses of electricity issues, including new generation interconnections, the impact of distributed generation, interconnection issues for wind and solar renewable generation, controlled grid analyses, independent power flow, transient stability and post-transient analyses, local capacity requirements, and transmission expansion plans. Work on the technical and economic aspects of these issues and conduct policy analyses and review. Handle a dynamic and changing work environment and work in a team environment as a leader and facilitator. Set and meet self-imposed deadlines, work with minimal supervision, and perform in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calm. Apply excellent analytical and oral and written communication skills. Provide timely professional assessments with limited information or assumptions and act confidently on decisions.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications: -10 years of experience in the electric utility industry -Knowledge of locational marginal price (LMP), financial transmission right (FTR), and fuel and power market dynamics -Knowledge of the principles of economic dispatch -Knowledge of the principles of transmission system operations -Knowledge of the relationship between commercial issues and reliability and security issues -Knowledge of basic economic and environmental regulations that are related to the power sector -Knowledge of project management, administrative programs, and the principles, practices, and administration of technical and management issues -Ability to obtain a security clearance -BA or BS degree
Additional Qualifications: -Experience with power industry consulting -Experience with renewable energy regulation or policy -Experience with energy generation technologies, processes, and policy -Experience with the Air Force, Army, Navy, or DoD -Knowledge of statistics, quantitative economics, and energy management resource planning -MA or MS degree in a related field -Certified Energy Manager
