This position will reside in MBV ( Merck Bioventures) in Rahway NJ.

Under general scientific and administrative direction you will have the opportunity to:

* Plan direct and evaluate both self-initiated or assigned research programs which lead to innovative applications and improvements to new products processes and technologies.

* Carry out independent research programs in your area of specialization including the interpretation of scientific data leading to recommendations or improvements to existing Merck therapeutic products.

* You may also be expected to conceive and/or execute research programs directed toward identification and/or development of new product candidates.

* Provide technical direction to associate scientists and Ph.D. level staff in carrying out their laboratory experiments.

Education Requirement:

* PhD or equivalent in an accredited scientific discipline from an accredited university or college or equivalent

Required:

* Training at the doctoral level or equivalent experience

* Excellent communication and written skills required to summarize and explain experimental findings

* Excellent team player

Desired:
* 1-3 years post-doctoral experience
