Standard & Poors is seeking a Lead Application Developer to be a key player in the analysis, design, implementation, and support of Fixed Income & Risk Management Services applications. This role requires a seasoned technologist, who works effectively, both independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment. The candidate must be a delivery-focused person with Financial Industry and Capital Markets experience. The candidate will report to the Manager of Application Development and will assist in the design, development, testing and deployment of new products as well as day-to-day support and operations functions.

The responsibilities also include:
* Work collaboratively with business partners to understand and clarify requirements
* Design and develop industry-leading applications
* Produce system design documents and participate in technical walkthroughs
* Respond to and resolve production issues
* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience; MS in Computer Science is desirable

* A minimum of 6 years of experience in software development in a Unix, Java/J2EE, Relational Database (Oracle preferred) environment
* Required technical skills: strong Java development experience, SQL
* Desirable technical skills: knowledge of statistical packages in Java, quantitative modeling, J2EE technologies
* Strong understanding of system architecture, object-oriented design, and understanding of Service Oriented Architectures
* Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies (RUP or Agile preferred)
* Proficiency in the development environment, including IDE, web server, application server, source control system, unit-testing tool and defect management tool
* Domain knowledge in Capital Markets, Structured Finance and Corporate Credit is desired
* Excellent communication skills are essential, with strong verbal and writing proficiencies
