This position reports to the Director of Finance, and is responsible for the Organization's accounting, budgeting, forecasting and contract management functions.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ensures that the daily financial and accounting functions are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all applicable regulatory requirements including those set forth by the Federal Accounting Standards Board such as FASB 116 and 117, and legal rules and regulations for nonprofit operations designated as IRS 501(C)(3) and 501(C)(4) organizations.
* Provides documentation for the Federal and state tax return preparation for all assigned legal entities..
* Manages annual financial audit and single audit (OMB A-133).
* Oversees staff in the areas of accounting operations, and analysis
* Summarize and forecast revenues, expenses, and cash flows based on past, present and expected operating results.
* Reviews, evaluates, and engineers workflow process improvements, and implements accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
* Directs budget preparation and budget monitoring processes, including support for department managers in managing their respective budgets.
* Develops and maintains performance “dashboard” and financial forecasting models and provides management and board of directors with meaningful performance reports and financial forecasts.
* Prepares and presents financial statements and related reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysis to external and internal management team and board of directors.
* Structure and manage internal contract management function.
* Develop reports and tools to monitor the impacts on the financial health of the organization.
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Exceptional knowledge of GAAP/FASB requirements.
* Proven track record of maintaining effective internal controls and developing policies and procedures.
* Experience with the implementation of accounting codes, general ledger account management, account reconciliation, account analysis, and preparation of financial statements.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret economic conditions and anticipate the impact on the organization * Keen judgment and excellent business sense.
* Familiarity with and understanding of Sarbanes Oxley and other principles of corporate governance.
* Effective communicator utilizing active listening skills and clear verbal and written communication.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to see the big picture while understanding the details involved and the ramifications of the decisions made.
* Ability to manage relationships with third party service providers to negotiates a win-win contract.
* Proven track record of successfully supervising high performing finance teams.
