Senior Systems Administrator

This permanent Linux/LAMP Senior Systems Administrator position is with a top-tier Web company in Los Angeles. We seek candidates with senior level skills, extensive experience gained in high traffic Internet companies, experience programming in Perl/Shell and a passion for free and open source software and blogging technologies.

Summary:

Primary duties will include maintenance and administration of the company's blogging infrastructures, including trouble shooting, performance tuning, systems/networks design, backups, security and building and deploying new servers. The ideal candidate must love UNIX and Internet technologies and have a good knowledge of blogging tools such as Wordpress and Movabletype, PHP/Shell programming and be able to assist Developers when needed. This position is 80% administration and about 20% of programming with an emphasis on Perl.
Must be able to routinely travel to downtown Los Angeles datacenter for maintenance, server deployment or emergencies.

Required Skills:

* 5 years Linux/UNIX systems administration experience with medium to high traffic web sites.
* 2 years with Shell and Perl
* 3 years PHP
* 3 years MySQL 4.1, 5.0
* 2 years experience managing and maintaining a 50 server environment
* 2 years High Availability web environment
* 2 years LAMP development experience
* Wordpress
* Movable type
* Apache, mod_rewrite
* postfix/sendmail
* NFS
* DNS/Bind 9
* Help Developers write, maintain and design large PHP code base
* Share 24/7 on call duties
* Version control (SVN or CVS)
* Patching and Compiling packages from source
* some C/C programming/debugging.
