Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Employee Health Services – Occupational Health Nurse. This position will be based in Phoenix, AZ. The Director of Employee Health Services is a professional nurse who assumes the responsibility for implementation and management of Employee Health Services' (EHS) programs. Programs include worker compensation, post-offer and for-cause drug screens and health assessments, pre-employment health screens, ADA accommodation studies, wellness initiatives, regulatory compliance, FMLA/Disability claims management, TB and other contagious disease prevention screening, monitoring, and immunizing.
1. Coordinates all aspects of the Workers' Compensation program for JCLHN.
• Ensure timely resolution of each employee's illness/injury and return the employee to his/her usual and customary employment.
• Negotiates and maintains contracts/accounts with Third Party Administrator, Retention Insurance Carrier, medical providers, and other services for the established span of control. Evaluates the services provided for cost-effectiveness, appropriateness, and ability to meet desired outcomes.
• Maintains OSHA log and completes related paperwork as required and demonstrated through audit.
• Develops, implements, and maintains alternative work program to reduce number of lost workdays as demonstrated through documentation and audit.
• Makes final determination regarding claims approval/denial and medical treatment authorization.
• Keeps abreast of workers' compensation claims' status, through review with EHS and TPA.
• Investigates unsafe work practices and conditions and assists in the resolution of issues as demonstrated through documentation.
2. Establishes and reviews programs and develops policy and/or procedures pertinent to delivery of EH services, in keeping with Infection Control, Network policies and regulatory guidelines.
3. Develops and implements programs to enhance and improve the state of health and wellness of JCLHN employees and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to education programs, immunization programs, and wellness programs.
4. Functions as active member of Safety, Infection Control, and Value Analysis Committees.
5. Oversees the delivery of services to customers/clients; ensures same level of service at both offices and facilities; directs and delegates assignments and accountabilities to EHS staff.
5. Selects, develops, trains and retains qualified staff, maintaining costs within budgetary guidelines. .
6. Supervises FMLA/Disability Claims Manager and ensures appropriate integration of services with Human Resources,Benefits and Payroll.
Requirements
• BSN or equivalent associates degree and experience
• 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in occupational health nurse management, with work comp management experience
• Verified current Arizona or other compact state RN license
• Occupational Health Nurse
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse through American Board for Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN)
• Current BCLS
• Windows, WORD or WordPerfect
