McGraw-Hill Education  ( MHE ) addresses virtually every aspect of the education market from pre-K through professional learning.   Using traditional materials, online learning and multimedia tools, we empower the growth of teachers, professionals and students of all ages.   McGraw-Hill Higher Education ( MHHE ), a division of McGraw-Hill Education, is a leading provider of print and electronic materials serving the college market, publishing instructional materials including textbooks, lab manuals, study guides, testing materials, software, and multimedia products.   MHHE currently has an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic Senior Developmental Editor in our Humanities, Social Science and World Language (HSSL) segment.  This position is based out of New York, NY.      The Senior Developmental Editor in collaboration with sponsoring editors and other team members is responsible for ensuring the successful development of specifically assigned print and non-print/digital products as well as print and multimedia supplements.    The Editor will work closely with authors, editorial team members, EDP, marketing, and additional internal and external customers, following McGraw-Hill's market-driven product development model.       Essential Responsibilities:    Establish goals, objectives, and schedules on assigned projects with manager. Research and analyze targeted competition to determine the competitive environment with regard to presentation and features Demonstrate a market-driven orientation in working with team members on market research and market development activities on assigned projects. Commission and analyze reviews as appropriate. Demonstrate deep development capabilities during process of analyzing author's presentation (e.g. coverage, organization, approach, pedagogy, illustrations) and writing style; provide direction to authors (including intensive editing and rewriting as necessary) and monitor authors' writing schedules. Demonstrate an understanding of what's required to create print and digital products that offer a competitive advantage. Collaborate with EDP on activities during the editing, design and production cycle as appropriate. Demonstrate effective development and management of multiple projects and ensure that they publish on time and within budget. Work with authors, the digital group, and other staff to develop and produce multimedia supplements on projects as assigned.  Manage freelance editors, providing appropriate coaching and monitoring fees. Participate in activities that broaden understanding of the digital competitive landscape as related to assigned projects.  Manage book budget in collaboration with sponsoring editor. Perform all other duties as assigned.   Bachelor's Degree required Five to seven years of college textbook publishing experience with track record of successful textbook publishing Experience in developing digital as well as print product McGraw-Hill Education:   Where the World Learns to Succeed!
