REPORTS TO: Operations Plant Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and AC/Heat and make arrangements with outside contractors for specialty work in these areas when necessary. Supervises and directs various seasonal projects such as roofing maintenance and repairs, parking lot repairs and HVAC maintenance. Plans, directs and schedules snow and ice removal and ensures adequate supplies of salt and ice melt are stocked.
Work with Operations Plant Manager and Sr. VP Operations in the development of expense budgets related to maintenance and engineering.
Responsible to supervise plant maintenance staff to ensure proper machinery maintenance to meet operational requirements, maintain building and related equipment to maximize operating efficiencies. Recommend purchases of all machinery, equipment and tooling necessary for the production and fabrication of products and components.
Develop and maintain documented maintenance schedules for all production equipment. Develops and maintains inventory of spare and repair parts, materials, and tools for use in maintenance and repair. Develop and maintain strong relationships with equipment vendors to assure all production machinery and equipment are running to manufacturing specifications and guidelines. Make recommendations for machine purchases and/or factory reconditioning and assuring that the corporation acquires these services at the best value possible. Develop and maintain a regular maintenance schedules for production equipment, building & grounds including but not limited to AC/Heating units, plumbing, electrical, roof, exterior walls and compressed air system. Continually monitor conditions of building and grounds to assure we are in compliance with all local and state building codes.
Coordinates and assists on preparation, set up and installation of new equipment and/or relocation of existing equipment. Coordinates down time on equipment for maintenance and/or repair with Operations Plant Manager to assure minimum disruption in production flow. Trains employees on use and daily maintenance of new equipment.
Supervises and directs the maintenance staff providing training and development, monitoring and evaluating work performance, interviewing and hiring adequate staff with support of the Human Resources department. Process disciplinary action with staff as necessary.
Fully responsible to manage and execute the internal safety program throughout the facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering degree or equivalent work experience
Seven plus years of skilled maintenance experience
Ability to troubleshoot and knowledge of policies, procedures, equipment, materials and supplies related to the service and maintenance of PLC controllers, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, electronics, etc.
Three or more years of supervisory experience including knowledge of principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment and review and the training of staff in work procedures
Understanding of safety practices and principles related to maintenance activities.
Computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel, Office.
Basic principles of budget development and administration and inventory control practices and principles for parts and supplies.
Requires incumbent to be on 24 hour on-call status for projects and facilities emergencies. Operation is Monday thru Friday. Weekend coverage is needed only for
major projects.
Moderate physical effort required involving long periods of standing/walking, climbing ladders and lifting moderately heavy objects (25 - 50 lbs).
