Our hospital has expanded steadily in its effort to keep pace with the health needs of the growing the community. Major physical changes have taken place within the hospital, including construction of new surgical suites and the creation of an ambulatory services area for same day surgery and a new endoscomy center. In addition, the hospital offers a modern family-centered maternity care program, a multi-discipline Cancer Program and a new Urgent Care Center. We are looking for a Nursing Department Director (Special Care Unit) . Position Description The Nursing Department Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Special Care Unit, its patient population, and assigned staff. Responsibilities include preparing the 24-hour core staff plan, managing and being accountable for the system's function, staff performance and patient care, while also providing clinical care. The Nursing Dept. Director also manages the allocated budget, participates in the selection process for new staff for the unit and conducts training for new staff. Unit Overview SCU is a 7 bed unit with an average daily census near 5 patients. Built in 2002 the unit is very nurse friendly in floor plan design. The unit was built as a 12 bed unit and is completely ready to expand to 12 beds when needed. SCU is a unit of significant acuity variation. All cardiac monitored patients are admitted to SCU from telemetry to critical care. The unit is completely up to date with new equipment, beds and state of the art monitors. Required Qualifications This position requires excellent leadership skills with a philosophy of creating a high-trust culture that empowers employees as individuals, and fosters a strong team environment. Initiative, creativity and outstanding written and verbal communications are a must. A Bachelors of Science in Nursing is preferred (Masters degree in Nursing Administration or Masters degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred). Other requirements include: three (3) years experience in field and a current Washington State RN license.
