Responsibilities
1) Grower/Supplier approval through the company chain approval processes, ensuring all aspects are compliant to meet current legislation and company/customer standards
2) Ensure 100% document compliance
3) To ensure accuracy of the Approved Supplier Lists
4) To monitor and ensure maintenance of audit schedules with audit bodies, to ensure all suppliers are audited to timescales
5) To monitor supplier adherence to GAP and GMP standards
6) To ensure suppliers audit corrective action plans are implemented
7) Working on a risk based approach to food safety, work with the suppliers to reduce risk from a microbiological and chemical perspective
8) To ensure full traceability of products and challenge the supply base, reporting findings and working with suppliers on improving systems and timeliness of information
9) Operate the KPI systems for monitoring supplier performance with respect to safety, quality and legality
10) Developing raw material specifications in conjunction with Purchasing, Development, Technical and Operations with factory yield and shelf life optimisation in mind
11) Training and development of the operations team responsible for quality control checks at Intake
12) Strive for corrective improvements in the supply base with respect to quality, implementing preventative action plans (QIP) based on intake QA trends and factory performance of raw ensuring an effective feedback loop to Growers
13) Troubleshoot yield, quality, safety and legality issues with Growers
14) Look for the ‘next best thing’ in the supply base to deliver a unique selling point or improvements in factory performance or product quality (e.g. varietal trial programmes)
15) Respond to customer complaints with corrective action reports
16) Consult with and train other departments to improve post harvesting handling procedures
17) Developing open & honest technical relationships with the Grower base built on mutual trust and improved communication
18) Collaboration with the Buyers and Growers to reduce costs wherever possible and achieve 100% customer service
19) To ensure the warranties necessary for control of branded suppliers are in place
Requirements
1) Must have 3 yrs field experience in a growing operation/produce packhouse experience in a Quality or Food safety role
2) Auditing experience at grower level would be a bonus
3) Knowledge of organic growing processes would be a bonus
4) Experience of Globalgap auditing or compliance would be a bonus
5) Degree in agriculture related field or Food Technology
6) Auditing Qualifications (preferably Lead Assessor) (ISO 9001:2000 Standard)
7) Advanced HACCP (preferable)
8) Must be Bilingual
