HVAC Technician - Apprentice - (US-FL-Hollywood - 33332) Compensation: $15.00 - $20.00 / Hour Minimum Education: High School Job Type: Full Time Jobcode: 9966675 Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online DESCRIPTION: Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems in residences, department stores, office buildings and other commercial establishments, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout. Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications. Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment. Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools. Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools. Cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment. Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant. Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit. SKILLS: Must work independently to troubleshoot systems, perform component failure analysis, determine repair and/or installation costs, and prepare Bill of Materials with associated cost estimates. Strong focus on system safety and understanding of applicable OSHA requirements. EXPERIENCE: This is an ENTRY LEVEL position. Some hands-on residential/industrial/commercial HVAC experience preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to think independently. May be required to drive company vehicles so must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license and provide a current copy of driving record. Once hired, will take a physical examination. Other duties will be determined.
