Our client is a publicly owned manufacturer of dairy products. The company has been in operation for more than 25 years and has annual sales of over $1B.

Responsibilities
1) Ensure the processing and packaging of quality products in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner by supervising plant personnel and operations
2) Provide leadership, direction and guidance to Production personnel
3) Supervise, evaluate, motivate and train personnel
4) Ensure the efficient and effective use of manpower, equipment and material resources
5) Schedule equipment and personnel to ensure production requirements are met on a timely basis
6) Ensure attention to detail with respect to maximizing product quality and yields
7) Take appropriate action to protect the health and safety of employees
8) Ensure that safe conditions exist at all times within the work environment
9) Review and maintain inventories and monitor sales projections daily
10) Ensure adequate stock of all products
11) Measure and communicate trends, reinforce positive results and initiate corrective actions as appropriate
12) Ensure effective use of operational data on daily basis
13) Prepare effective written communication as required (work procedures, notices and progress reports for senior management)
14) Ensure both company and government quality, sanitation and environmental standards are met by liaising closely with QA and Technical Services
15) Perform frequent reviews and implement company and government policies
16) Liaise with the Maintenance Department to minimize downtime and ensure product safety and quality
17) Administer the collective agreements as well as company policies and regulations
18) Maintain effective internal and external relationships
19) Undertake other functions as needed

Requirements
1) Degree (4 year) in Operations and/or Supervision an asset
2) 5+ years of leadership experience in a food manufacturing facility as well as union and sanitation experience
3) Prior management or administrative experience in operations a plus
4) In-depth knowledge of dairy operation (processing, cheese making and sanitation)
5) Proficient in MS Office
6) Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as proven leadership skills
7) Self-motivated and team oriented individual with strong initiative
